Introducing... @fivelittlebirds

There are some instagram accounts that you come across and you can't help but smile, you're left with warm fuzzy feelings, and wish you could climb into those little squares of happiness to join the fun... Five Little Birds is just that! A lovely mama of four, Rosie and her family fill their days with musical adventures, reading tales, and foraging in their garden... oh and laughing... there is lots of laughing! Her instagram states it perfectly... they spend their days "capturing the magic of childhood"...

We chat to Rosie about what makes her and her lovely family tick...
Tell us a little bit about yourself and your gorgeous family...
I am currently a stay at home Mum but up until my daughter was born I worked as a play specialist on a children's ward. Now with four little ones keeping me busy I have delayed returning to work but I do teach ukulele twice a week at the local primary school. We are big fans of music in our house and currently have piano, flute, drums, ukulele and piano lessons going on for someone on any given day. My husband also plays the saxophone. We try to live a fairly simple life and focus on experiences more than things. But in saying that, I prefer quality products and love to support small business when I do purchase things.

When did you get stared with sharing your story and what do you enjoy the most about it?
I started on Instagram a couple of years ago but it took me a while to figure it out. I have really grown to love it and value all the wonderful friendships and connections I have made. Just today we received the most beautiful parcel of handmade items from a lovely Instagram friend in Iceland. I also love how the Instagram community supports mums and brings people together through creativity.

I love the sense of freedom that your images have, you can almost hear your children's laughter leaping from the images! Describe to us your favourite way to spend the day...
We love spending time singing and playing music together. We also really enjoy getting out in nature, and in Summer we pretty much live at the beach. I like to let my kids get creative with paints, glitter and play dough and we LOVE to read.

What inspires the lovely images you take?
My children are pretty much my inspiration. I like to get the older ones involved in the pictures we take and let me them share their ideas. I am also inspired by the amazing community of Mums on Instagram, who remind me daily that life is short and these are the days.

What are your favourite items for to purchase for your kids?
Books are a big favourite and I also have a hat addiction. I love wooden toys and things that are made to last (with four children I definitely look for quality). Whenever we have a baby in the house my husband jokes about the amount of swaddles and baby blankets that start appearing, but you can never have too many muslins!

Where are your favourite places to shop for kids?
I love to support small businesses and enjoy markets, etsy and little shops I find on IG.
I know music plays a big part in your life - what is your favourite song?
I have so many, but I got married to "Your love gets sweeter" by Finlay Quaye and "You and I" by Ingrid Michaelson also has a special meaning for me. Favourite singers include Ben Harper, Adele, Ray Lamontagne, The Lumineers, Bob Dylan and Van Morrison

What did you want to be when you grew up?
I always wanted to be a ballerina (explains all the living room dancing I still do)
If you were to make a make the ultimate cupcake, what flavour would it be?
Peanut butter and chocolate

Tutu Du Monde portrait sessions with Camille Nuttall

Tutu Du Monde are teaming up with Famous Photographer, Camille Nuttall for private Portrait Sessions and our little Frankie was lucky enough to get hers taken recently in Sydney. On the 10th & 11th September at Establishment Studios in Melbourne you too will have the chance to treat your little girl to a magical day and capture images you'll treasure forever...

In true Tutu Du Monde style, these sought after sessions convey an atmosphere of fantasy and wonder, where your child can indulge her imagination and innate sense of play. The fun starts on arrival with party music and food, just like a party! It’s then over to the creative team – where the real magic begins.

First up they will style her hair which Frankie loved! Perhaps your little lady is in the mood for curls, crimping, beachy waves or something sleek? Now for the best part… a chance to put together a stunning outfit from the latest collection of Tutu Du Monde frocks and whimsical accessories.

Crafted using the finest cotton, tulle and organza and embellished with ribbons, sequins, delicate feathers, silk flowers and bows, the gorgeous range offers everything your special girl needs to channel her inner ballerina or princess. Or she can express her sassy side by teaming tulle with hi-tops and a kooky headpiece – whatever look she goes for, a professional stylist will be on hand to bring it to life.

All set for her shoot, it’s time to get acquainted with the custom-made set. Dressed with a selection of vintage props, it’s designed to encourage your daughter to play, dream, pose, even dance. And as she revels in her moment, renowned children’s photographer Camille Nuttall will capture her unique personality.

We feel so lucky to have had such beautiful shots taken of Frankie that we will treasure forever. To book in a session for your little lady in Melbourne head to her website or email cam@camillenuttall.com.

Concrete & Honey

We have so much love for Concrete and Honey that we can’t help but shout about it. With an amazingly sharp eye for design, interior styling & food, the multitalented Nicola Greenway started her business, Concrete & Honey around five years ago...

We like to think of Nicola as a maker of beautiful images and have often called on her to help us with photography for our own store (The Gathered Store) and also helping us style our first ever pop-up store at the One Fine Baby Fair in 2015.

Creating beautiful and affordable images in her signature light, bright and lovely way, we have no hesitation to recommend Nicola if you are a small business looking for some styling advice or photography.

Her work has been featured on Decor8, The Design Files and Pia Jane Bijkerk and Donna Hay magazine (that is how good she is!) and she is available to help you or your business with any of your product styling, photography (including nursery and baby photos) and custom design needs…even the odd baking project if your sweet tooth so demands.

And as a cherry on top of this already beautiful cake, Nicola is an absolute doll to work with. So friendly, warm and always forthcoming with fresh ideas. Check out her website for more info.

Welcome to Cold Country

According to this year's World Happiness Report, 8/10 of the happiest countries in the world are covered in snow for most part of the year - Switzerland, Iceland, Denmark, Norway, Canada, Finland, Netherlands and Sweden. Being beach bums ourselves, this seems a little hard to believe. But since seeing these absolutely stunning snowscapes by Veronika Gilková, we are no longer wondering why...

Tranquil, mesmerising and enchanting... Veronika Gilková's photos are renowned for having a dreamy atmosphere and imaginative quality.

They are based in nature which switches into a magical country under the influence of various light effects/smoke. Check out more of Veronika's work here.

Winter Dream

This pretty photo shoot from Polish creative agency Pink Wings proves that winter dreams can be so much more than just drinking hot coco by the fire. All you need to keep the winter blues at bay is a couple of your closet pals, some cool layered threads and realms of crate paper. Beautiful in every sense of the word.

Threenagers - @notsomumsy

What better way to brighten up winter than with pops of colour. The colder and gloomier it gets, the more colours we add! We finally had some sunshine and boy was it glorious. Archie and his little buddy Kinga loved soaking up the rays with their skateboards & shades (& fairy floss to boot!). Three going on thirteen, with a 'tude to match their swagger, these two are gonna be trouble, but man they're cute to watch. Marcia aka @notsomumsy x

Clothing details:
Kinga wears Bonds dress, Bubblegum Converse, and Sons & Daughters sunglasses from Kido Store.
Archie wears Bonds cactus tee, Beau Hudson Denim Jegs, Yo Gabba Vans, and Sons & Daughters sunglasses from Kido Store.

Creative Showcase - Deborah Sfez

It’s a wonderful thing when you love your job. We are very lucky ourselves to absolutely love waking up and working on all things Little Gatherer. And Deborah Sfez is an amazing stylist who is in the same situation...

She absolutely adores working with children and we think this really shows through in the beautiful images she creates. Deborah has worked with the likes of Papier Mache Magazine, Fred Bare and a range of gorgeous European children’s fashion labels.

We caught up with Deborah to find out more about her world:
What is your background?
After studying Foreign Languages and Communications, I worked for 3 years as a fashion PR agent in a well-known Parisian fashion press agency focusing on the kids industry. Keen on globetrotting and looking for new experiences, I decided to move to Sydney...

This is where I met the happy Papier Mache Magazine team and decided I wanted to work with kids more often! A few years later, here I am, back in Paris working as a French free-lance fashion editor specialising in the children’s wear industry. I love my job. I feel so lucky, kids make me simply happy!

How did you become a stylist/journalist?
After living in Sydney for a little while and working with Beck (the Editor in Chief of papier mache magazine) I came back to Paris and we decided to keep working together despite all the miles between us! Day after day, I discovered how much I loved working in the kids industry.

I enjoy being surrounded by kids, dressing them up, playing with them on photo shoots, discovering the new print for the upcoming season and meeting amazing designers from the industry. Each season is full of new surprises and I am already looking forward to the next Playtime edition to meet up with my favourite designers and discover the ones of tomorrow!

What inspires you?
I can spend hours on Pinterest and Instagram but I love magazines more than anything. When I go abroad, I love spending time in newspaper agencies to find the new local magazine that I will read over and over, all along the trip! I love Lula, Violet, Under the Influence and Frankie. I have a little niece who is 4 years old. I have to admit I am a huge fan of her - she makes me laugh every time I see her and she inspires me a lot in my work.

What do you love most about what you do?
Getting to know my little models and making up stories to see them smile.
What has been your favourite piece of work to date?
Hard to say. Every project is interesting and fulfilling in a different way! I loved working with Izziyana Suhaimi on the folklore publication; she made stunning embroidy on our kids fashion editorial with my friend photographer Mélanie Rodriguez.

Where are your favourtie places to shop for kids?
I love going to Monoprix, they have a great kids range! For designers, I love Ovale for little babies, Louis Louise, Le Petit Germain, Soft Gallery and Sun-san Salt water for the shoes!

What did you love most about being a kid?
Eating each corner of my ‘Petit Beurre’ before eating the whole biscuit while watching one of my favourite Mordillo cartoons.
If you were to invent the ultimate ice cream, what would it look like?
