Mama's We Love | Jen Calorme

COME AND MEET THE AMAZING JEN - MAMA TO 3 BEAUTIFUL KIDS AND BUSINESS OWNER OF LUNE & CO. THIS AMZING MAMA TELLS US ALL ABOUT HER JOURNEY THROUGH MOTHERHOOD AND HOW SHE GOES ABOUT HER DAY TO DAY LIFE AS A WORKING MAMA.

What does Motherhood mean to you?

Motherhood means the absolute world to me. It changed me as a person for the better, it gave me purpose when I was lost and taught me how to love in a way I didn’t even know existed. Motherhood is one of the most powerful and beautiful experience one can have. It’s hard, it has its struggles, sometimes it feels like you can’t give any more of you. But it’s also kisses, laughs, lots of love and late night cuddles.

A quote by Linda Wooten always speaks so much to me: “Being a Mother is learning about the strengths you didn’t know you had and dealing with fears you didn’t know existed”.

What is your favourite memory since becoming a Mum?

I don’t know if I could choose only one single memory as a favourite, but here’s one that cannot over take any other memories - When I became a mother and held my first born Jackson in my arms. Nothing can beat this feeling. And other beautiful memory is when the kids were finally reunited with their dad after 6 long months of being apart due to international borders restrictions.

What does a normal day look like for you?

Very busy as we are a fifo family - week days I get up at 5am to do a workout before the kids get up. Then we have 1.5hrs to get all 4 of us ready to get out the door for school and kindy drop offs. On days Zola isn’t at kindy we usually do something in town and then get home for a nap so I can fit in some work. When she is at kindy, I get home after drop offs and get straight into work. Then it’s pick up time, afternoon activities, dinner, bath and bed. I live for the weekends though, a lot more chilled. Slow mornings and love pottering around the house, baking with the kids or going for walks in the bush.

What is something you like to do for a bit of down time?

I love a good book. My only down time is just before bed so I always try and get a few pages in. I also love spending time with my girls too, cheeky coffees in the morning or out for dinners are our go-to.

What is the best piece of advice you have received since becoming a Mum?

Do not care about other’s opinions. Everyone will always have something to say about what you do and how you do it. Take it in, listen to everyone’s advice but follow your instincts and make your own decisions...and other one - which everyone will agree is life changing - is to buy double ended zip bodysuits to make night time nappy changes easier.

Who is your parenting role model?

My Mum. Hands down the most amazing, caring, giving and loving Mother. She truely did her best to raise us to be great Mothers. I always find myself telling the kids the same things my Mum used to tell us growing up. All of her Grandchildren have also been brought up listening to her lullaby and it’s the most incredible memory to pass on.

How have you managed your work/life balance since becoming a Mum?

I’m still trying to figure it out haha. Most days it’s a juggle. Balls drop all the time but unless I have a major deadline for work, my family + making memories with them always always come first and take priority over everything else.

How are you celebrating Mother's Day this year?

Well, we are heading home to France the next day so we will probably be packing for our holiday all day long...but to me, this is the best way to spend Mother’s day as it means my Mum and my family will finally get to meet all my babies 48hrs later - such an incredible gift this year.
